will this be the last cake before I leave ? yes i think so.. or maybe not.
Anyway, this cake is specially made for Yeemei. I’ve made one for Melisa & ShinYee, then I’ve made one for Ryn, then one for me, the one for my brother. then two for my family and a family friend.
Yeemei wanted a greentea cake. ok so a green tea cake there will be
I found this recipe in allrecipes.com. It’s a pretty easy cake, not much mess, not much funny doddledoo ingredients. just plain basic stuffs. It smelled really good too. I smelled like green tea when I was making the cake and when I took out the cake from the oven.
Cake Ingredients
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup cake flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
4 teaspoons powdered green tea
1 1/4 cups white sugar
1 cup vegetable oil
3 eggs
1 cup plain yogurt
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Frosting Ingredients
1 cup confectioners’ sugar
2 teaspoons powdered green tea
2 tablespoons butter, softened
1 (3 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 teaspoons milk
Method

- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour 2 – 9 inch round pans. Sift together the all-purpose flour, cake flour, baking soda, salt, and green tea powder; set aside.
- In a large bowl, beat together sugar, oil, and eggs until smooth. Stir in 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla. Beat in the flour mixture alternately with the yogurt, mixing just until incorporated. Pour batter into prepared pans.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Cool on wire rack for 30 minutes before turning out of the pans.
- To make Green Tea Frosting: Sift together confectioners’ sugar and green tea powder. In a medium bowl, combine tea mixture with butter, cream cheese, vanilla and milk. Beat with an electric mixer until smooth.
- To assemble the cakes: when the cakes are completely cooled, put one layer on a flat serving plate. Spread a thin layer of frosting over it. Place the other layer of cake on top, and spread frosting to cover the top and sides of cake. Dust with green tea powder if desired. Serve cold or at room temperature.

I don’t know how many boxes of strawberries i bought this month. This will be the last box

I melted some chocolate, and did some pattern on the frosting. Because the frosting was not really enough, I had to do some cover ups…

And it gets further and further. haha. I like my cakes to be messy. Cause I can’t really do the neat stuffs yet

And a slice. Oh yeah, pretty green huh ?
The taste was ok. It’s something like butter cake but with a tiny bit of green tea taste. Frosting was alright, not too sweet. Quite easy to make actually. Took about 30 mins to whip up all the ingredients and then put it in the oven to bake while I pack my luggages. Then went out for lunch, came back, and frosted the cake, and chilled it in the fridge.
And, I used a spoon to cut the cake cause the mamak didn’t have any knife…
And probably 2 weeks later, u’ll see me with cakes from Le Cordon Bleu. heh

Have a good trip! Cake looks delish – now making me crave for one too.

Wow. I was looking for Green Tea cookie recipes and I came across your Just Heavenly website and then this one. I am VERY impressed with what you’ve made. I’ve just started baking recently so I still am not sure what I am doing. Haha. I just baked some green tea cookies (recipe from other website and it didn’t turn out good.
way too sweet and not hard/crunchy like cookie. more like cake. don’t know why)
But just wanted to say your baking and decoration are amazing…
