The new bakery in town! 85 C The Cake and Beverage Store - Fall in love @ first sight… with the first bite..
It’s more like a take-away kinda concept, where you just order and wait for your cake / coffee while they prepare them, and then carry it away and eat somewhere else. The shop’s fully packed with people, so I doubt you could eat in there. *pause* there isn’t much space anyway.

Location wise, it’s pretty DARN GOOD! it’s on 545-551 George St and next to Greater Union Cinema, opposite McDonalds. There’s always a queue inside and outside the shop. Apparently, the boss of this shop is one of my classmate’s ex-chef (that he worked with ages ago). And it’s quite Taiwanese style, the cakes and all. OK enough of talking! TIME FOR PHOTOS !

You wouldnt miss this awesome display of cakes if u’re walking along George St. Even at the other side of the road, I saw it and asked my friend if it’s a new shop or something. Heh (bye bye cupcakes on pitt, welcome REAL thing!)

That’s probably the closest you could get to the cakes, you browse through the variations here, and then, you go into the shop to order what you want. So spoiled with choices! Even if it wasn’t your intention to get a cake or two, you would in the end buy something cause it just looks so nicely decorated and delicate. That is if you’re a foodie ![]()

The cakes are quite different from the Aussie-style-stuffs (Big is beautiful - cakes I mean) Even the flavours are quite unique. Like this one, Peach Milk Mousse Cake. Yumm, and the decoration looks perfect (to me at least..) There must be like at least 14 different types of cakes to choose from.. I was having a hard time choosing one *ppffF*

We reckon that the chocolate deco was made from moulds cause it’s so damn uniformed!

It looks like a springroll type of cake to me. My friend bought this, I’m not sure what was her comment, haha. And they’re having Opening Promotions now. pretty good deals. One of them was, free a slice of cake when you buy a drink. Cheapest drink there is $2.60, Iced 85 Coffee. Cheapest Cake, $3.60. So, $2.60 for an iced coffee a slice of cake. Now, what an awesome deal!!!!! If I was a coffee drinker, I would have tried heaps, but unfortunately, I’m not quite a coffee-person.

We bought one of it, and I only can choose a cake, how undecisive… I was like, oh, I want this.. or maybe this ?? Oh, this one looks pretty nice too!! How about this ? *ggrrrrrrr*

According to the drinker, the coffee’s really nice!! It’s more like the Kopitiam (chinese) type of coffee rather than the English-style of coffee, uh, get what I mean ? but yeah, the aroma was good, coming from a non-coffee drinker, it means GOOD!!! At least it didn’t make me sick. haha, smelling too much coffee makes me sick *urghh*
There’s another promotion going on, 25/9 - 08/10, $2 for any sliced cakes! Dammiiitt!! like cheap cheap cheap!!!

I bought the one called Napoleon cause the outlook was really special, (looking like an apple) and the layers were quite unique. Its vanilla sponge and in the middle it’s filo pastry. The sponge was light but it was quite buttery to me, might be the cream eh. Overall, it was good.
Now, this is serious stuff… I sent in my resume to this shop. HAHA *fingers crossed* ![]()
