Eat Workshop

Okay, it’s now back to Malaysia. But really, I dont really do much food reviews cause I’m just not good at pairing up sophisticated words with the dish. All I can say is that, risotto is (when asked by my friend) a cross between teo chew porridge and congee and may contain cheese. That’s a very layman explaination to get the message across. But if it works, then I don’t mind. hehe

So, it’s the 2nd time visiting Eat Work Shop opened by fellow LCB alumni. But actually it’s the first time dining there, so I was expecting something “aussie”. Indeed, there was quite an aussie touch to the food, especially with the risottos.

The restaurant was looking very lonely when we went it. It’s probably because of their location in the midst of factories, I was thinking they would be busier during lunch than in dinner. I was right. But the ambience was cosy and fun for a group of friends.

This was Chicken & Mango served with a generous amount of mango sauce. I managed to try abit of it and it was ok. Due to it’s portion size, I try to keep my fork away from it. Haha (if you get what i mean)

Risotto with corn and Scallops. The portion was terribly small. As I have not dine there before, my friend kinda asked me, so is the portion big. I replied her and say, should be …. average ? But we were quite disappointed with the portions of the risotto. Honeestly, this was only like the size of my palm *gasp* Taste wise, it wasnt the cheesy type of risotto. Prolly because of the corn kernels in it, i didn’t fancy it. I like my corn either roasted / grilled with lotsa butter and salt!

Lamb Shank. At first I wanted to order this, but I just remember last year this time in another restaurant. I ordered a LAmb Shank too! How is it possible I have 2 lamb shanks in a row for my birthday? Haha, so I skipped it and went for something else. But it was served with a huge amount of mashed potatoes and sauce. In this pic, the shank actually looks like a part of the pork for Bah Kiut Teh. I tried abit and the meat was tender and mashed potato was…. well.. mashy like.

Speaking of mashed potato, I miss this mash potato in this certain place. It’s not really too mashy or blended but there’re still pieces of potato in it with some finely chopped onion and a tinge of mustard in it. mmm, I should visit the place sometime soon (or make my own :P )

Pesto Pasta with Prawns. If I’m not mistaken, they were fresh made pasta. I like those freshly made pasta. It makes it look like the chef actually put some thoughts to the dish instead of just using those dried pasta. I just reminded, I actually wanted to make ravioli when I bought the pasta rolling machine but I just…. forgot about it..

Mine was the Mixed mushroom risotto with truffle oil. Overall, I was quite satisfied with my dish despite the size of it. There was a very generous amount of mushrooms in it like field mushies and enoki. (Didnt I tell u i Love mushrooms??) The sweetness and earthy smell of the mushroom went very well with the risotto. Nice

This is Mushroom Ravioli and the taste was abit similar to mine maybe because of the mushrooms that they use, but less cheesy. Ravioli was cooked to al dente. I don’t like undercooked pasta :P

I think overall the dishes were quite good for me. Also, I knew that their choc fondant cake is a ‘hit’, so I kinda wanted to order, but it came as a complimentary birthday gift for me. ooo yay!! I love places that give free cakes on birthdays!

They did a flambe with rum when they served the dessert. Sorta like replacing the candle cause it would be stupid to poke the candle in, and waste the gooey chocolatey sauce in it. It’s served with vanilla ice cream and pineapple jam.

The cake was good. Love the gooey chocolate inside. But the rum was kinda strong (on top) but otherwise, it was really great with the ice cream. yummmy. This was my version. Haha

And, that’s me :) with a spoon instead of a knife. haha

Thanks babes for coming. It’s been great catching up with u guys after .. so long !!!!
